and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass,
or a tinkling cymbal.2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries,
and all knowledge; and though I have all faith,
so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though
I give my body to be burned, and have not charity,
it profiteth me nothing.
Galatians 5:22-23New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (NRSVCE)

5 They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world,
and the world hears them.
6 We are of God. He who knows God hears us;
he who is not of God does not hear us.
By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
Knowing God Through Love
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone
who loves is born of God and knows God.
8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us,
that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world,
that we might live through Him.
10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and
sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
Seeing God Through Love
12 No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another,
God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.
13 By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us,
because He has given us of His Spirit.

And yet I will show you a still more excellent way
[one of the choicest graces and the highest of them all: unselfish love].

28 And he said to him, “You have given the right answer; do this, and you will live.”
