2 Thus says the Lord,
“Do not learn the way of the [unbelieving/pagan] nations,
And do not be terrified and distressed by the signs of the heavens
Although the unbelieves/pagan are terrified by them;
6 And because you [really] are [His] sons, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying out, [a]“Abba! Father!”
7 Therefore you are no longer a slave (bond-servant), but a son; and if a son, then also an heir through [the gracious act of] God [through Christ].
19 And when you look up to the heavens and see the sun, the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven,
do not be led astray and bow down to them and serve them,
things that the Lord your God has allotted to all the peoples everywhere under heaven.
8 But at that time, when you did not know [the true] God and were unacquainted with Him,
you [Gentiles] were slaves to those [pagan] things which by [their very] nature were not and could not be gods at all.
9 Now, however, since you have come to know [the true] God [through personal experience], or rather to be known by God,
how is it that you are turning back again to the weak and worthless elemental principles [of religions and philosophies],
to which you want to be enslaved all over again?
10 [For example,] you observe [particular] days and months and seasons and years.
11 I fear for you, that perhaps I have labored [to the point of exhaustion] over you in vain.
8 But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all students.[a]
9 And call no one your father on earth, for you have one Father—the one in heaven.
10 Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one instructor, the Messiah.[b]
11 The greatest among you will be your servant.
12 All who exalt themselves will be humbled, and all who humble themselves will be exalted.
6 But he gives all the more grace; therefore it says,
“God opposes the proud,
but gives grace to the humble.”
5 Examine and test and
and showing the proper fruits of it. Test and prove yourselves
Do you not yourselves realize and know [thoroughly by an ever-increasing experience] that Jesus Christ is in you—unless you are [counterfeits] disapproved on trial and rejected?
3 For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
2 Those who think they know something do not yet know anything as they should.
26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? What do you read there?”
27 He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul,
and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”
28 And he said to him, “You have given the right answer; do this, and you will live.”
