7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
But fools despise wisdom and instruction.
4 “I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that can do nothing more.
5 But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority[a] to cast into hell.[b] Yes, I tell you, fear him!
1 John 3:8-9 New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (NRSVCE)
8 [But] he who commits sin [who practices evildoing] is of the devil [takes his character from the evil one],
for the devil has sinned (violated the divine law) from the beginning.
The reason the Son of God was made manifest (visible) was to undo (destroy, loosen, and dissolve) the works the devil [has done].
9 No one born (begotten) of God [deliberately, knowingly, and [a]habitually] practices sin,
for God’s nature abides in him [His principle of life, the divine sperm, remains permanently within him];
and he cannot practice sinning because he is born (begotten) of God.
26 For if we go on willfully and deliberately sinning after receiving the knowledge of the truth,
there no longer remains a sacrifice [to atone] for our sins [that is, no further offering to anticipate],
27 but a kind of awful and terrifying expectation of [divine] judgment and
the fury of a fire and burning wrath
which will consume the adversaries [those who put themselves in opposition to God
6But he gives all the more grace; therefore it says,
5 Examine and test and evaluat
and showing the proper fruits of it. Test and prove yourselves
Do you not yourselves realize and know [thoroughly by an ever-increasing experience] that Jesus Christ is in you—unless you are [counterfeits] disapproved on trial and rejected?
3 For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
2 Those who think they know something do not yet know anything as they should.
26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? What do you read there?”
27 He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul,
and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”
28 And he said to him, “You have given the right answer; do this, and you will live.”
