22 But the fruit that the Spirit produces in a person’s life is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goo
23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these kinds of things.
20 Do you see a man hasty in his words? [someone who speaks without thinking.] There is more hope for a fool than for him
17 A quick-tempered man acts foolishly and without self-control,
And a man of wicked schemes is hated.
11 A fool vents all his feelings,[a]
But a wise man holds them back.[uses self-control and] holds it back.
8 and if ye are apart from chastening, of which all have become partakers, then bastards are ye, and not sons.
6 For whom the Lord loves He chastens,
And scourges every son whom He receives.
5 Examine and test and evaluate your own selves to see whether you are holding to your faith
and showing the proper fruits of it. Test and prove yourselves
Do you not yourselves realize and know [thoroughly by an ever-increasing experience]
that Jesus Christ is in you—unless you are [counterfeits] disapproved on trial and rejected?
2 Those who think they know something do not yet know anything as they should.
