15 Do not love the world or the things in the world.
If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
4 You people are not faithful to God!
You should know that loving what the world has is the same as hating God.
So anyone who wants to be friends with this evil world becomes God’s enemy.
22 Wives, be subject [a]to your own husbands, as [a service] to the Lord.
23 For the husband is head of the wife, as Christ is head of the church, Himself being the Savior of the body.
24 But as the church is subject to Christ, so also wives should be subject to their husbands in everything
[respecting both their position as protector and their responsibility to God as head of the house].
4 so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,
5 to be self-controlled, chaste, good managers of the household, kind,
being submissive to their husbands, so that the word of God may not be discredited.
33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself,
and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,
26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,
27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle
or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.
28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.
29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
5 Examine and test and evaluat
and showing the proper fruits of it. Test and prove yourselves
Do you not yourselves realize and know [thoroughly by an ever-increasing experience] that Jesus Christ is in you—unless you are [counterfeits] disapproved on trial and rejected?
3 For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
2 Those who think they know something do not yet know anything as they should.
26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? What do you read there?”
27 He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul,
and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”
28 And he said to him, “You have given the right answer; do this, and you will live.”
