7 Little children (believers, dear ones), do not let anyone lead you astray.
The one who practices righteousness [the one who strives to live a consistently honorable life—
in private as well as in public—and to conform to God’s precepts] is righteous, just as He is righteous.
8 The one who practices sin [separating himself from God, and offending Him by
acts of disobedience, indifference, or rebellion] is of the devil [and takes his inner character
and moral values from him, not God]; for the devil has sinned and violated God’s law from the beginning.
The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.
9 No one who is born of God [deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices sin, because
[a]God’s seed [His principle of life, the essence of His righteous character] remains [permanently] in him [who is born again—who is reborn from above—
spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose]; and he
[who is born again] cannot habitually [live a life characterized by] sin,
because he is born of God and longs to please Him
13 For such boasters are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.
14 And no wonder! Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.
15 So it is not strange if his ministers also disguise themselves as ministers of righteousness.
Their end will match their deeds.
2 Corinthians 4:4 Amplified Bible (AMP)
17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: by using my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues;
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
James 4:6 New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (NRSVCE)
6 But he gives all the more grace; therefore it says,
5 Examine and test and evaluat
and showing the proper fruits of it. Test and prove yourselves
Do you not yourselves realize and know [thoroughly by an ever-increasing experience] that Jesus Christ is in you—unless you are [counterfeits] disapproved on trial and rejected?
3 For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
2 Those who think they know something do not yet know anything as they should.
26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? What do you read there?”
27 He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul,
and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”
28 And he said to him, “You have given the right answer; do this, and you will live.”
