41 “Why do you notice the small piece of dust that is in your friend’s eye,
but you don’t see the big piece of wood that is in your own eye?
42 You say to your friend, ‘Let me get that little piece of dust out of your eye.’ Why do you say this?
Can’t you see that big piece of wood in your own eye?
You are a hypocrite. First, take the wood out of your own eye.
Then you will see clearly to get the dust out of your friend’s eye.
12 For what have I to do with judging those outside? Is it not those who are inside that you are to judge?
13 God will judge those outside. “Drive out the wicked person from among you.
12-13 It is not my business to judge those who are not part of the group of believers.
God will judge them, but you must judge those who are part of your group.
The Scriptures say, “Make the evil person leave your group.”[a]
James 4:6 New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (NRSVCE)
“God opposes the proud,
but gives grace to the humble.”
2 Those who think they know something do not yet know anything as they should.
26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? What do you read there?”
27 He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul,
and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”
28 And he said to him, “You have given the right answer; do this, and you will live.“
