Scripture:
Matthew 26:41
“Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Understanding:
Jesus Christ commands me to watch and pray so that I do not fall into temptation. I must examine myself and be alert to thoughts, desires, and distractions that can draw me away from God. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak, so I need to depend on Jesus Christ and His Word daily. As I put Jesus Christ first and trust in Him above all things, He will guide me and strengthen me to overcome temptation.
Application:
I will watch over my thoughts, words, and actions each day. [ I will pray and seek the guidance of Jesus Christ whenever I face temptation or difficulties. I will put Jesus Christ first in every area of my life and trust in Him rather than in people or circumstances. I will also encourage and help others in Christ, sharing His truth and love as I feed His sheep.
Prayer:
In the name of Jesus Christ, Lord Jesus, make me watchful and prayerful so that I do not enter into temptation, make me put You first above all things and trust in You completely, strengthen me to overcome the weakness of the flesh and walk according to Your Word, make me put you first above all things and trust in you completely. Strengthen me to overcome the weakness of the flesh and walk according to your word. Make me to encourage others, care for your sheep, and bring glory to your name. in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
