Scripture:
Philippians 3:18–20
For many walk, of whom I have told you often… that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ… who set their mind on earthly things. For our citizenship is in heaven…
Understanding:
An enemy of the cross is not someone who simply rejects CHRIST. It is also someone who continually lives for worldly desires instead of allowing the old sinful nature to be crucified. JESUS CHRIST calls me to deny myself, follow Him, and let His Word transform my heart. My true citizenship is in heaven, so I must seek the things of GOD rather than the temporary things of this world.
Application:
I will examine myself daily and allow the Word of GOD to correct me. I will ask the HOLY SPIRIT to help me put away sinful desires and grow in the fruit of the Spirit. I will keep my eyes on JESUS CHRIST and remember that my home is in heaven, not in this world
Prayer:
In the name of Jesus Christ, Lord Jesus, make me deny myself, obey Your Word, and live in a way that honors Your cross. Let my heart desire the things of heaven more than the things of this world. I pray all this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
